The hospital was responsible for a physician who was negligent in not giving antibiotics for Group Beta Strep.

The hospital failed to follow its own procedures, causing a delay of four hours of the delivery. The baby was born with severe mental and physical disabilities. At the time the $4,000,000 settlement was the largest settlement in DuPage County in ten years.

Physician Malpractice - Wrongful Death
Jerry Vinkler of Vinkler Law Offices, Ltd. settled a Cook County case against a cardiac surgeon and a cardiologist for $1.3 million dollars. One defendant physician sent the plaintiff to surgery for a bypass to the right coronary artery without the circumflex artery being evaluated. The second defendant surgeon failed to review the angiogram which showed the circumflex artery was not visible. He therefore failed to bypass the circumflex artery. Upon discharge, the decedent sustained a fatal heart attack due to blockage of the circumflex artery.

Vinkler Law Offices, Ltd. settled a Cook County lawsuit for $600,000 for a woman whose baby was born at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital with an injury of shoulder dystocia. The doctor failed to recognize the difficulties in the delivery, and caused damage to the baby's arm which developed Erb's palsy.

Hospital/Physician Malpractice - Wrongful Death
Vinkler Law Offices received a $900,000 verdict and a $100,000 settlement against a thoracic surgeon and Mt. Sinai Hospital respectively during a two week trial in Cook County. The surgeon, who was supervising a resident attempting to place a catheter for dialysis perforated the subclavian artery causing the patient to bleed internally. The patient bled to death before the perforation was discovered later in the ICU.

Physician Malpractice - Back Surgery
Jerome A. Vinkler settled a DuPage County case against a neurosurgeon for $900,000 who improperly performed a lumbar laminectomy by placing a screw that impinged upon the nerve root. The surgeon failed again in the post operative period to identify the screw that was putting pressure on the nerve despite complaints by the plaintiff. The failure to recognize this during the surgery and subsequent follow up care resulted in permanent injury to the Plaintiff. These failures led to the need for surgical intervention by another physician, however by the time the screw was removed it had been impinging upon the nerve root for so long that it caused severe and permanent problems.

Automobile Negligence - Amputation
Vinkler Law Offices, Ltd. settled a DuPage County lawsuit for $200,000 for a Florida woman who was involved in a car accident and developed a contusion to her foot that became infected. Because she was a diabetic, the infection was difficult to treat and she resultantly lost her big toe.
